The Chronica Editors, Justin Brock (University of Oregon) and Professor Anne Laskaya (University of Oregon) present Issue 2 of the 2014 Medieval Association of the Pacific's newsletter, Chronica (PDF:Chronica 2014.v2)
Our organization has seen a number of exciting changes since the last edition of Chronica. The 2013 MAP conference at University of San Diego was a huge success, having brought together scholars (faculty and students alike) from all over the globe for a variety of energetic and intriguing presentations. Likewise, our 2014 joint meeting with the Medieval Academy of America at UCLA exemplified the collaborative spirit between MAP and other medieval organizations.
MAP is excited to welcome a number of new officers and councilors to our council, allowing for fresh perspectives on the governance of the organization. Dr. Anita Obermeier is handing the MAP Presidency to the more than capable hands of Prof. Michael Hanly. Thank you Anita Obermeier for your outstanding service to our organization. Please see the President’s Message on page 2.
While we will send out a more expansive Chronica this Fall, this brief edition includes the CFP for the 2015 conference, hosted by the University of Nevada, Reno (page 2). Additionally, see page 4 and 5 for the most recent winners of the Founder’s and Benton Prizes.
Thank you to all of our members for making the organization such a success every year. Your donations and participation matter!
Best Wishes,
Justin Brock, Chronica Co-editor
