Michael Calabrese is happy to announce publication of the “Revised Edition” of his Piers Plowman: The A Version: A New Translation with Notes and Introduction. Catholic University Press, 2023. The book is now out, having been published a month earlier than expected. The “Revised Edition” is a better, clearer, more accurate, (cheaper!), and overall more useful tool for our community of scholars, teachers, and students. The book-- which continues his work of empowerment of working class, first- gen college students-- can be ordered for Fall classes (and for individuals) from the CUP website, as well as from Amazon. In this revised, second edition, “my Piers Plowman: The A Version is still an exciting, combative, and pretty funky story about a man named Will wandering the Earth in search of Truth—and getting mocked or yelled at by a series of frustrated teachers—some of whom have their own issues and agendas. To my original students and readers, I say welcome back to the A Version in all its revised glory. Far fewer potholes now along the road. And to new readers, I say get into gear and enjoy the ride. As for the future, there’s plenty more of Piers Plowman to study and translate, so we’ll see you on the next album.”
